What is an Orthomosaic?

An orthomosaic, is similar to a Google Earth satellite image but much sharper, as the image has been colour balanced, orthorectified and mosaicked together from an image collection (ie. of your crop). It is made by doing a flyover of a desired area where the drone takes hundreds of images that are later stitched together to form one complete accurate image of the area.

What is the difference between 2D and 3D imagery/modelling?

2D imagery involves capturing detailed photographs from different angles to provide a comprehensive view of an area. 3D modelling enables the creation of three-dimensional representations of objects and landscapes, which can be used for various purposes such as urban planning, architectural design and even your orchards.

DSM stands for Digital Surface Model, much like an elevation model and can provide you with data to assist how you irrigate, plant, fertiliser and much more! It can provide farmers with better information as to how to put out their irrigation and give explanation as to why lower or higher parts of the crop are producing better than others due to a change in incline and/or temperature. They can also provide you with insight into the possible changes in soil type according to the change in topography. These models are valuable for understanding terrain characteristics, flood risk assessment, and infrastructure planning.
